The Ministry of Construction and Architecture intends to complete construction and installation work at Vitebskdrev OJSC in March

The Ministry of Architecture and Construction promises to complete construction and installation work at OJSC "Vitebskdrev" in March. This was announced today by the Minister of Architecture and Construction of Belarus, Anatoly Nichkasov, during a visit to OJSC "Vitebskdrev", where a major production modernization project is being implemented, according to a BELTA correspondent.

The minister noted the high pace of work on the construction of new workshops at the enterprise. "Currently, the first stage of commissioning the entire complex - a workshop for the production of laminate flooring - is ready. Adjacent buildings should be equipped. Installation of a technological equipment complex is underway in an open area, which needs to be installed as soon as possible. In this regard, all concrete work will be completed by mid-December. Installation of 1 thousand tons of metal structures will have to be carried out as soon as possible. In parallel, equipment installation will be carried out on-site and in the building with the participation of Italian suppliers," Anatoly Nichkasov outlined the main stages of construction and installation work. In general, the new construction site of OJSC "Vitebskdrev" is well-equipped, no technological violations have been identified, and the Ministry of Architecture and Construction considers it a positive example of work organization.

Anatoly Nichkasov also noted that the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee has clearly planned the course of work, involved the "Vitebskgrazhdanproekt" institute in the project design, and republican and communal construction organizations in the construction. "The work schedule is rationally organized here. All work will be completed in March, and equipment adjustment and operation will begin in order to complete the implementation of this important project within the established deadlines - by mid-2013," the minister said.

Vitebskdrev OJSC is implementing an investment project for the production of MDF (medium-density fiberboard) and HDF (high-density fiberboard) boards. The project involves the production of innovative boards, including laminated products based on wood raw materials, as well as laminated flooring, which is currently imported. The implementation of the investment project began in accordance with the State Program for Innovative Development of Belarus for 2007-2010 and was scheduled for completion in December 2009. Taking into account repeated postponements, the commissioning of the new production facility has been rescheduled to June 2013, according to the schedule agreed upon with the interested parties. As of November 1, 2012, the construction readiness of the facility was 36.7%, while the project provided for 81.96% by this date.

The enterprise was founded in 1927 and transformed into an OJSC in 1994. Vitebskdrev is one of the largest woodworking companies in Belarus. It produces windows and doors, particleboard and fiberboard, lumber, flooring boards, and other products. The enterprise has an effective quality management system that complies with ISO 9000 requirements. In order to improve the environmental performance of its activities and prevent environmental pollution, Vitebskdrev has created and implemented an environmental management system based on the ISO 14000 series standards. The enterprise is part of the Bellesbumprom concern.
