The Ministry of Transport of Belarus plans to actively develop domestic air transportation

May 14, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. The development of domestic air transportation will become one of the main areas of the Ministry of Transport's work in the next five-year period. This was announced today to journalists by the Minister of Transport and Communications Ivan Shcherbo, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent. In Vitebsk, he is taking part in a republican seminar on energy saving in the organizations of the Ministry of Transport. "Over the past 5 years, we have managed to preserve all airports in the regional centers, including by making administrative decisions, but to maintain them in excellent condition, it is necessary to develop air transportation," Ivan Shcherbo noted. In this regard, the Ministry of Transport is developing a program for the development of civil aviation for 2011-2015, which will include measures, including the development of domestic air traffic. Thus, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee is actively initiating the creation of a transport and logistics center at the airport in the regional center, as well as the opening of passenger air transportation with the regions of Russia and Ukraine. At the same time, small-capacity aircraft are needed to organize passenger air transportation, so the problem needs to be solved comprehensively, the head of the department added. "The issue of developing air transportation is on the agenda, and for the next five-year period, we are setting ourselves such a task," said Ivan Shcherbo. The Ministry of Transport will present the program for the development of civil aviation for 2011-2015 to the government, and the document may be approved by the end of the current year. -0-
