The Miory district will develop social infrastructure and the green economy with an EU grant

The Miory District Executive Committee won a grant from the European Commission for the implementation of the project "Together for Community and Nature: Strengthening the Development Process in the Miory District through Partnership between Local Authorities and Civil Society," as reported by the district executive committee.

The initiative will be financed by the European Union by 90%, with the total project budget amounting to almost 1.1 million euros. The district executive committee's partners in this project are the public organization "Aхова птушак Бацькаўшчыны" (Association for the Conservation of Birds of Belarus) and the Latvian Rural Forum. The project aims to create a mechanism for implementing the sustainable development strategy of the Miory District, built on the partnership between local authorities and civil society structures. This model will focus on developing the initiative and responsibility of the local community, supporting biological and cultural diversity, developing social infrastructure, environmental facilities, and the green economy.

All project activities can be divided into several main components. These include the development of a regional sustainable development strategy document and the creation of bodies for its implementation, territorial working groups, and a Local Development Agency. Seminars, training sessions, environmental protection and educational events will be held for volunteers, guides, craftspeople, local residents, farmers, and representatives of agro-ecotourism estates.

"An important component will be the branding campaign. During this campaign, environmental festivals "Cranes and Cranberries of the Miory Region" will be held in the district center, and local festivals will take place in Disna and the village of Perebrodye," the district executive committee noted. In addition, financial support will be provided to public organizations, agro-ecotourism estates, and representatives of small businesses.
