Miory will celebrate its 500th anniversary
A large-scale theatrical procession will take place in Miory as part of the 500th anniversary of the city's first mention in historical documents. The celebration will begin on September 10 with a children's program in the recreation area "Poluostrov", while the main events are scheduled for the following weekend. Many venues, including the stadium, will be used throughout all days. For the first time, a concert will be held on the city square, where a stage will be set up. Local groups and ensembles from neighboring cities such as Glubokoye, Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk, Sharkovshchina, Polotsk, as well as guests from Russia and Latvia will perform here.
As explained to "VV" by the head of the department of ideological work, culture, and youth affairs of the district executive committee, Alexander Tronkin, the campaign "A Gift to the Beloved City" was announced in advance, and applications are being accepted for participation in the homestead contests "Yelnya's Wealth at Our Homestead", "Master of the Village", "Dzyaŭchynka-zhuravinka".
As part of the city's anniversary celebration, a festival will also be held.
«Cranes and Cranberries of the Miory Region». Those interested will be able to observe flocks of cranes stopping in these places before flying to winter quarters, walk along the ecological trail, and taste cranberry dishes.The Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus has issued a commemorative special postmark in honor of the 500th anniversary of Miory. It can be used to cancel postal items from September 8 to 14.
