The opinion on the regional patriotic event "Breakthrough of Victory" was shared by the honorable guests of the holiday
– 80 years ago, everyone who was in military service, in a partisan detachment, a village boy who became a liaison, a white-haired old man who showed paths through impassable places, a woman who cared for the wounded and baked bread for the partisans was a hero here. From the autumn of 1942, there was a partisan republic in these places, and Soviet power was in effect. Enterprises and schools operated, and contact with the mainland was maintained. This territory interfered with the fascists, as the partisans inflicted heavy losses on them. Therefore, huge forces were thrown to destroy the partisan zone. Breaking the blockade cost many lives, but thanks to it, thousands of civilians were saved.
I first visited these places as a 4th-grade student, after reading the book by Hero of the Soviet Union Vladimir Lobanok. My parents brought me to the memorial complex. The road here does not overgrow. It is gratifying that many young people come, who worthily carry the relay of memory.
Honorary Citizen of Ushaсh Vladimir Andreichenko:
– We must draw conclusions from every event. The times are not easy now – we see that Nazism is raising its head again, and it is important for us to oppose our views to the ideology alien to our people. An information war is being waged against the Republic of Belarus, so it is important that we unite our efforts and preserve the unity that the Belarusian people have. We need to strengthen the country's economy and become even more independent.
The "Breakthrough" Memorial is a sacred place. Today we pay tribute to the feat of our ancestors, who performed a legendary feat 80 years ago.
Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov:
– 80 years ago, tragic events unfolded here, terrible like the entire war, heroic like the victory of the Soviet people. As long as we remember them and teach the youth by the example of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, our country and the Belarusian people will live.
First Deputy of Pskov Region Vera Emelyanova:
– We have come to the Vitebsk region to share the joy of Victory with the people of our fraternal Belarus and to wish for a common peaceful life for many years to come.
At this memorable place, the feeling of pain does not leave us; we begin to perceive the present through the prism of time. We remember and thank those who bought freedom at the cost of their lives. At the same time, we experience a feeling of joy – we won and have lived in a peaceful country for 80 years, we give birth to children, raise grandchildren, and hope that it will always be so. Russia and Belarus will always stand shoulder to shoulder for peace.
