A multifunctional power playground has opened in the Rubа microdistrict of Vitebsk

A multifunctional sports ground with workout and basketball zones has been opened at Vitebsk Secondary School No. 15 named after M. Chumanihina (Ruba microdistrict). People with disabilities can also perform physical exercises here.

It was created thanks to the republican social project of the Presidential Sports Club to support sports and a healthy lifestyle "Sport for All" with the support of local authorities and a number of enterprises - OJSC "Dolomit", branch "Construction and Installation Train No. 169 at Vitebsk station" OJSC "Dorstroy-montazhtrest", "Bridge Construction Department No. 5" branch of OJSC "Mostostroy", OJSC "Vitebskles". The playground can be used by both students and residents of Ruba.

The opening of the new facility was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin (a graduate of this school in 1993), and the Assistant to the President - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Igor Brylo.

– I am more nervous than anyone else, – said Alexander Subbotin during the opening. – This is my school, the best years were spent here. Thank you to the teachers. I hope the playground will be just the beginning of the school's modernization. The stadium and new equipment are still ahead.

The head of the region handed over a certificate for the purchase of sports equipment to the director of Secondary School No. 15 Antonina Ershova.

The educational institution, currently attended by 395 students, traces its history back to 1967. Initially, it operated as Rubovskaya Secondary School, and in 1998, by decision of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, it was assigned the sequential number 15. Since the autumn of 2021, the educational institution has borne the name of Maria Chumanikhina, a significant figure not only for the residents of Ruba. In 1978, Maria Yakovlevna was appointed director of the Vitebsk Limestone Materials Plant. During her fifteen years of leadership, she transformed the enterprise into a powerful production complex (now OJSC "Dolomit"). The social sphere of the urban settlement also saw significant development. With the assistance of Maria Chumanikhina, the estate of Ilya Repin was recreated in the village of Zdravnevo.
