Mobilization of observers and formation of polling stations. The presidential campaign is gaining momentum

Мобилизация наблюдателей и образование участков для голосования. Президентская кампания набирает ход
The presidential campaign is gaining momentum, as evidenced by the increased level of civic activity in the country.

At this stage, the organizers have focused on the formation of polling stations (which currently have increased requirements), the initiative groups of candidates have set up pickets (mainly in large cities), and other subjects of the electoral process are mobilizing observers.

In the regional center, the traditional gathering place for political campaign activists is the area near the shopping and entertainment center "Marko-City". This time, several initiative groups for collecting signatures in support of the nomination of candidates for President of the Republic of Belarus have set up there. Not all contenders have yet made an appearance, but even those who are already working are enough to attract citizens' attention to the electoral process and the need to think about the upcoming choice. Law enforcement agencies are ensuring order and people's safety with an emphasis on prevention, so that the signature collection picketing does not escalate into unauthorized mass events.

Polling stations must be established no later than June 7 (there were 768 of them in the 2019 parliamentary elections), after which the nomination of representatives to the precinct election commissions will begin. The process will last until June 21, and then the commissions must be formed no later than June 24. At the same time, the scope of activity for observers will expand. For now, public associations, citizens, and work collectives are delegating their representatives to the regional and district election commissions. Over the past week, the number of observers has almost doubled, but in absolute terms, their number still looks modest – 76, or almost three people per election commission.
