An modernized flax processing workshop has been opened at the plant in Dubrovno
The flax cottonization lines will allow for the production of high-quality products with high added value and an increase in production volumes by 20%. One hundred tons of short flax fiber will be processed here per month, yielding 60 tons of cottonized fiber. During processing, the fiber's properties become similar to cotton. Fabrics that are practically indistinguishable from those made from long fiber can be produced from it. Twenty jobs have been created in the modernized workshop.
"This plant is an indicator and an example that the industry can be profitable, can not only sustain itself but also develop the surrounding infrastructure. One example of further development is the new cottonization line installed at the plant. And there are many such opportunities that will allow us to improve our production and obtain a newer, more expensive, marginal product. And here is a living example. It is significant that it is at this production facility that a new line is being opened, which will give additional impetus to both the plant and the region, and once again show how it is possible and necessary to work in the flax industry," noted the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin. He also congratulated the plant workers on the 90th anniversary of the enterprise.
According to the enterprise director Anatoly Bosenkov, the high-tech equipment for deep processing of flax fiber from short-staple flax straw was installed at the plant by the company's own efforts. "The workers went through the equipment down to the last screw. Now it needs to be adjusted and run in," he said.
The cotton-like fiber, which will be produced in the new workshop, will increase the export potential of the enterprise and will be exported to the People's Republic of China. As noted by the Chinese partners of the plant at the opening of the workshop, the raw material will be "used for the production of flax fibers, blending with cotton, viscose, and even silk."
The solemn ceremony was attended by the President's Aide - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Anatoly Linevich, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladimir Grakun, district and enterprise management, and the plant workers themselves.
As reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, this year the agrarians of the northern region had to harvest more than 12 thousand hectares of flax. Flax straw harvested is 30% more than last year. "Dubrovenny Flax Plant is, as always, ahead of the curve, it is the best plant. Its flax straw yield is 10 centners per hectare higher than last year, and 8 centners per hectare more than the regional average," explained the regional agricultural committee. The sown areas of flax next year will remain practically at the same level, amounting to 13 thousand hectares. A higher yield is planned to be obtained through technology and the sowing of highly productive seeds.
