Today in Novopolotsk, prayers will be offered for unborn children
A prayer for unborn children will be held today in Novopolotsk, as reported to BelTA by the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee.
On the day of remembrance of the Holy Innocents, martyrs of Bethlehem - January 11, a liturgy will be held in the local church, after which all participants will proceed in a religious procession along the main street of the city. The procession will end in the central square, where a prayer service will be held in a temporarily installed church tent. In this way, Novopolotsk seeks to draw attention to one of the pressing problems of modern society - the issue of abortion.
The "Light a Candle for an Unborn Child" campaign is held in the city with the blessing of Archbishop Feodosiy of Polotsk and Glubokoye and is being organized for the second year.
It is worth noting that the secular authorities of Novopolotsk, Polotsk, and Polotsk District, together with the Polotsk Diocese, have become organizers of the "ZaRozhdenie" (For Birth) center, the main goal of which is to popularize family values and overcome the demographic crisis. Specialists give a course of visualized lectures on the harm of abortions in schools for high school students and first and second-year students of secondary vocational educational institutions. Moreover, the lectures are given not only to girls but also to boys.
