Youth from Smolensk and Vitebsk regions initiated the creation of a border council

At the Russian-Belarusian Youth Forum in St. Petersburg, held as part of the VI Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, a regulation on the creation of the first interregional discussion platform was signed, whose participants will propose, discuss, and implement their plans and ideas.

– The Smolensk and Vitebsk regions have vast experience in youth cooperation, which they are ready to share, – noted Vyacheslav Khrol, First Secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM. – Modern young people have many interesting ideas for interaction, for example, in the field of robotics. Therefore, it was decided to create a Youth Council of Border Regions, which will help active and initiative-driven young people bring their plans and ideas to life.

– For the past few years, our youth organizations have been implementing joint programs and projects aimed at the comprehensive development of Russian-Belarusian cooperation, – said Evgeny Zakharenkov, Chairman of the Smolensk Regional Public Organization "Russian Union of Youth". – Various events for children and youth related to creativity and educational technologies are held annually. The Russian-Belarusian festival "Towards the Stars," the international camp "Nadezhda," and the competition of original poems "Magic of the Pen" have become traditional. Currently, we are implementing another large-scale project – the Russian-Belarusian Center for Competence Development of Young Teachers "Constellation of the Pelican," within which master classes and a gathering of teachers from the two countries are organized.

The council will include 22 people aged 18 to 31 – 11 representatives from the Vitebsk and Smolensk regions each.
