Youth of Vitebsk region set off on a three-day kayaking trip

Молодежь Витебщины отправилась на байдарках в трехдневный водный поход

Cutting through the waters of the river, working youth from all corners of the Vitebsk region traveled around their native land.

About 20 people took part in a three-day water trip dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory and the Year of Youth. They began their journey along the Dnieper in Dubrovno after laying wreaths at the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union Anna Nikandrova. They paid tribute to the fallen soldiers of the Great Patriotic War and at the monument to the first Katyusha salvo in Orsha, where they made a stop for this purpose. The water route continued almost to the border of the Vitebsk and Mogilev regions. The trip was organized by the youth sector of the main department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the regional executive committee and the regional committee of the BRSM.

– This is the fourth summer we have been going on a water trip, but each time the route changes so that our youth can get acquainted with new places in the Vitebsk region, – noted Vyacheslav Khrol, Deputy Head of the Organizational and Program Activities Department of the Regional Committee of the BRSM. – Such trips promote a healthy lifestyle, provide an opportunity to exchange work experience in implementing youth policy in different regions. And, of course, we do not forget about civic-patriotic education, remembering the heroes of the war and memorable events.

The trip itself was also full of events. On the water, young people competed in maneuvering kayaks, and during stops, they played Dombay volleyball (i.e., without seeing the opponent), answered "Brain-ring" questions, completed a humorous relay race, and met Neptune. Traditional campfire porridge and guitar songs added romance and coziness to the trip, which will be long remembered by its participants.
