Youth of the Vitebsk region are taking part in the reporting and election congress of the BRSM in Minsk

Молодежь Витебской области принимает участие в отчетно-выборном съезде БРСМ в Минске

Today, the 42nd Congress of the BRSM is being held in Minsk in the format of an open dialogue "Youth of Belarus: Traditions and Future", which has gathered about 3 thousand people from all over the country. The day before, the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Terentyev met with delegates of the youth forum from the Vitebsk region.

“You have been honored with a great honor and a great responsibility – to be delegates of the reporting and election congress of the BRSM. This does not happen to everyone in life. The very opportunity to hear the head of state live is priceless, it is an indescribable energy,” noted the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. “But you should not just listen, but also work, communicate with colleagues from other regions, in order to then bring into your activities the best that exists today in the youth organization. And tell about what we have. And we have something to be proud of. For four years in a row, Vitebsk region has been the best in the country in the student construction brigade movement.”

Vladimir Terentyev also recalled other successes of the regional organization of the BRSM, thanked for assistance in various areas, and also noted that there is still much to work on. And who, if not those who lead an active public life, who have proven themselves since school, should solve the set tasks, because such people are the reserve of leaders of various levels. It is no coincidence that the President, by his decree, declared 2015 the Year of Youth, emphasizing that the future of our country largely depends on young people.

The meeting with the congress delegates took place at the regional executive committee in an open dialogue format. But before the young people started asking questions, Vladimir Vladimirovich warned: "No need for paper-based questions, ask what you really want to ask, from the heart." As a result, the official meeting turned into a trusting conversation.

– There are young people in the hall, most of whom were born during the times of sovereign Belarus and do not remember the Soviet era, when there was the Komsomol. Believe me, public work is a wonderful school of life, – noted Vladimir Terentyev. – I was once the deputy chairman of the regional pioneer organization, a member of the school's Komsomol committee, and at 21, the secretary of the Komsomol railway district committee. To become a leader, much depends on you yourself, you need to work on yourself.

To the question of what kind of event for youth the deputy chairman would like to participate in today, Vladimir Terentyev answered:

– We had a wonderful Komsomol district committee, great tourist gatherings and hikes. And today I would gladly go to a tourist gathering and sit by the campfire, but constant employment interferes. It's great that such a tradition has been preserved, it's extremely important.

What do government bodies expect from modern youth? Initiative and creativity. Vladimir Vladimirovich is confident that youth should bring their interesting proposals, and government bodies will facilitate their implementation. At the same time, it is necessary to work together to find solutions. What qualities should one possess to go through life easily and successfully? Remain human, live according to conscience, there is nothing more important than this. Everyone has their own path, but it should be remembered that certain decisions affect not only our fate, but also the fate of our relatives and loved ones.

Thanking for the interesting conversation, the first secretary of the regional committee of BRSM, Yulia Novikova, assured that young people will continue to work and show initiative for the benefit of our region and country.

The events of the 42nd Congress of the BRSM started yesterday with the civil-patriotic action "We Remember and Are Proud!", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. During the rally, delegates laid wreaths at the Victory Monument and honored the memory of the fallen with a minute of silence. Then, at the "Oktyabr" cinema, a meeting with the authors and lead actors of the film "State Border. Film Ninth: Couriers of Fear" was held, and the film was screened.

Today, at the Palace of the Republic, during the open dialogue "Youth of Belarus: Traditions and Future", the organization's work over the past three years will be summarized, a development strategy for the coming years will be outlined, and a new leader of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union will be elected. At the congress, a student of VSTU, the winner of the regional stage of the republican competition "Student of the Year-2014" Anna Myadelets will present her ideas on organizing volunteer activities from our region.
