Youth volunteer detachments of the Vitebsk region are launching pre-holiday campaigns

The start of joint pre-holiday charity events by the BRSM and BRPO, as well as the Vitebsk region branch of the Belarusian Red Cross Society, was given today during the first regional rally of volunteer detachments, BELTA correspondent reports. BELTA.

In particular, territorial volunteer detachments will take part in the "Our Children" campaign, or, as it is called in some detachments, "Christmas Miracles". With congratulations, gifts, and theatrical performances, they will visit children's social and boarding institutions, day care centers, and families raising children with disabilities.

As explained by representatives of the BRSM "Kind Heart" volunteer movement, the main event of the pre-holiday days will be the Day of Kindness, which will be celebrated on December 17. A number of events are planned for volunteers to assist participants of the Great Patriotic War, lonely and elderly people living alone, and visits to social and rehabilitation centers. The culmination of the Day of Kindness will be the charity non-stop marathon "All the Colors of Life for You" with the participation of Belarusian pop stars and children's creative groups from the regional center at the cultural center of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. All funds raised from ticket sales will be used to purchase medical equipment for the wards of the Vitebsk City Specialized Children's Home.

The first regional volunteer rally was attended by detachments of the BRSM "Kind Heart" movement, Timur detachments of the BRPO of educational institutions of the region, volunteers of the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society, as well as students of the Vitebsk Special General Education Boarding School for Children with Hearing Impairments. For the first time, young volunteers from various organizations and public associations of the region met to communicate and share experiences. During the rally, thematic platforms and presentations of the detachments' activities, and concert performances were held.

In the Vitebsk region, there are 178 BRSM "Kind Heart" volunteer teams operating with a total number of over 3.6 thousand people. The young people provide patronage assistance to veterans, disabled people of war and labor, lonely elderly people, orphans, large families, children with disabilities, single-parent families, families in socially dangerous situations, and participate in charitable campaigns and events. Over three years of activity, volunteers have visited more than 235 social facilities, collected and handed over over 28.5 thousand gifts worth Br140.7 million.
