Young farmers of the Vitebsk region will demonstrate their skills in operating high-power tractors

The regional professional skills competition among young machine operators of the Vitebsk region opens today in the Polotsk district, the head of the youth department of the Vitebsk regional executive committee, Valery Kunashko, told a BELTA correspondent. "Professional competitions help to promote best practices and improve skills, contribute to the growth of the prestige of working professions, and stimulate young people to participate in the implementation of state agrarian policy," Valery Kunashko is confident. This year's competition is the seventh. Its main difference from previous ones is that young plowmen will compete on high-power "Belarus-3022" tractors. Over the past two years, the machine fleet of agricultural enterprises has been significantly updated, including with powerful tractors, which is why it was decided to test the skills of young people in operating such equipment, the interlocutor explained. The competition will be held in the urban-type settlement of Vetrino on the basis of the Polotsk Vocational Lyceum of Agricultural Production. 40 participants under the age of 31 from 20 districts will compete for the title of the best young machine operator of the Vitebsk region. The competition will be held in two rounds. Today, in the first theoretical round, contestants will have to answer 100 questions. The structure of agricultural machinery, labor protection and traffic rules, the basics of agronomy and agricultural production are just a small list of topics that a young machine operator must know. The practical round, the most spectacular and exciting, will take place on October 21. Participants will have to prepare the unit for work and carry out stubble plowing on the assigned plot. The jury's requirements for the quality of work will be strict: deviations from the straightness of the first furrow and plowing depth will be measured with a centimeter in hand. In addition to these requirements, the jury will evaluate the preparation of the tractor for work and the appearance of the contestant. The competition will conclude on October 22 with the awarding of winners in individual and team championships. The competition is organized by the department for youth affairs, the committee for agriculture and food, the department of education of the Vitebsk regional executive committee, the Polotsk district executive committee, the Polotsk Vocational Lyceum of Agricultural Production, and the regional trade union committee of agricultural workers. -0-
