Young border guards of the Polotsk border detachment took the military oath
The event dedicated to taking the Military Oath was attended by the head of the recruitment and staffing department of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus, Colonel Igor Kovalenko, the leadership of Novopolotsk and Polotsk districts, representatives of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, the Orthodox Church, and veterans of the border troops.
The main result of service is the upbringing of true patriots who can apply their acquired skills and abilities in civilian life or continue their service under contract, noted Colonel Igor Kovalenko.
Border guards must maintain a high physical and moral condition. Therefore, at the selection stage in the military commissariats of the Vitebsk region, conscripts underwent a thorough medical examination and psychological testing.
An ad hoc training center has been established at the Polotsk Border Detachment to train new recruits. There, conscripts acquire the skills necessary for border service. These include proficiency in small arms, operation of border security technical means, methods of conducting reconnaissance, and hand-to-hand combat.
In January, the recruits will face final exams. They will receive the specialty of "border service inspector" and will be sent to serve on the border. Some of them will go to training units of the border service for various specialties – a dog handler, an engineering specialist, a cook, and drivers of categories C and D.
Due to the epidemic situation, soldiers' relatives, as well as other guests, were not present at the solemn event. A video report about taking the Military Oath will be prepared for them, summarized Lieutenant Colonel Denis Glebko.
