Sweet gifts and a multi-board with the "Smart Child" application were presented by the head of the region, Nikolai Sherstnev, to the Vitebsk orphanage.
– Modern technology is an excellent aid for educators and defectologists. Our orphanage has 81 children, 34 of whom are preschoolers who study and learn directly here. We hope the games installed on the multi-board will help in their development and education, – thanked the director of the orphanage, Natalia Kultanenko.
Gifts are always good and pleasant, but the festive atmosphere still depends on the mood of its participants. And judging by how the little bunnies, gnomes, snowflakes, and fairies cheerfully danced in a circle around the Christmas tree with the adults, sang songs, recited poems, and played with Santa Claus, the orphanage pupils are sincerely happy about the New Year.
– To understand the meaning of the "Our Children" campaign, one needs to remember being a child. We all looked forward to the New Year, gifts, and sweets. The current younger generation is the same: they want a holiday. And who, if not us, adults, should give it to them? Today, looking at the happy faces of the children, I feel a sense of pride in what we are doing for our children. We work on this daily, but we lack joint celebrations. The New Year brings children and adults together, giving them shared joy and fun, – emphasized Nikolai Nikolaevich.
The director of the orphanage said that over the past five years, 704 thousand rubles have been allocated from the budget to strengthen the material and technical base. For these funds, heating was installed, major repairs of the roof and facades of the building were carried out, the territory was improved, and a fire and security alarm system was installed. Sponsors helped to acquire a mini-football field with artificial turf, and funds from benefactors received this year will go towards installing a video surveillance system.
– This year, thanks to the "Towards a New Family" project, 17 children who needed state protection returned to their parents who had reformed. Another 40 children were placed in foster families, seven children were adopted, 14 went under guardianship, and 17 went into adoptive families. One toddler moved to a family-type orphanage. The biological father of another toddler established paternity and took him home, – said Natalia Vladimirovna, adding that a total of 57 boys and girls this year have in one way or another found a family where they are cared for, where they are loved and expected, and where they will celebrate the most magical and most homely holiday – the New Year – together with adults.
