The Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk may become a scientific consultant for the art center in Narva
June 14, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The leadership of the Estonian city of Narva intends to invite the "Marc Chagall Museum in Vitebsk" for scientific consultations on the creation of an art center, said Oliver Lode, head of the tourism development consulting company Consumetric (Tallinn, Estonia), in an interview with a BELTA correspondent. He is taking part in the XIX International Chagall Readings, which are being held today in Vitebsk.
The Estonian border city of Narva intends to actively develop its tourism sector, focusing on famous people who have ever visited Narva. Among two dozen names, the name of the famous Vitebsk native, Marc Chagall, stands out particularly, explained Oliver Lode. In 2010, Narva plans to celebrate the centenary of Chagall's stay in this city and by that time to create an art center where contemporary artists could create and exhibit. The local authorities would like to involve specialists from the Vitebsk museum as consultants for this project. As Oliver Lode noted, the "Narva page" in the artist's biography was opened in Narva thanks to the help of the "Marc Chagall Museum". In turn, the art center could provide information support to the museum in Estonia.
At the same time, the high tourism potential of Belarus is not in doubt for the tourism specialist. According to Oliver Lode, the pristine nature of Belarus and its architectural monuments of the Soviet era would be of great interest to Estonian tourists. However, the most attractive for foreign tourists is the name of Chagall and everything connected with him. "Belarus has something to show and surprise with, but Belarusian companies are not actively promoting their tourism products in the markets of Northern Europe," the interlocutor added with regret. -0-
