Ilya Repin acquired the estate in Zdravnevo, 16 km from Vitebsk, in 1892. He was heavily involved in its improvement. The main manor house was rebuilt according to his designs. During 1892-1901, the paintings "Belarusian", "Moonlit Night", "Duel", "In the Sun" and others were painted in Zdravnevo. The museum in the former estate was established in 1988.
