Recently, the solemn opening of a museum named "The Road of Bread" took place in the administrative building of the Glubokoe Bread Factory branch of Vitebskhleboprom OJSC. The factory workers first invited representatives of the district authorities and labor veterans to the premises, decorated in the style of a peasant hut.

- The Bread Museum is not just a tribute to history. It is a long story about how our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, not fearing hard work, sowed, harvested a generous crop, and baked bread, which is the priceless wealth of the people," notes the director of the bread factory, Oleg Tolkach. - The exhibits presented will help future generations understand the true value of bread.

The idea of creating the museum originated several years ago when, at the suggestion of the district authorities, the head of the enterprise visited the eastern regions of the Republic of Latvia to learn about the intricacies of their processing industry. The visit program included familiarization with the work of a private bread museum located within the walls of an ancient castle. Upon his return, based on the relevant decision of the district executive committee and the consent of the labor collective, Oleg Ilyich began to develop the idea of creating a bread museum at the Glubokoe enterprise. Gradually, the factory workers began to collect exhibits. Some valuable historical items were donated by teachers and students of the Verkhnyanskaya kindergarten-basic school.

The honor of cutting the red ribbon at the museum entrance was given to the General Director of OJSC "Vitebskhlebprom" Mikhail Rogu, the Chairman of the District Executive Committee Oleg Morhat, and the Director of the bakery Oleg Tolkach.

- There is no future without the past, - emphasized the head of the district. - We must remember how people worked before, what moral values were important to them. As an agronomist and a person who was born and raised in the countryside and loves his native land, I will say that bread is the most important thing. It was like that before, and it will always be like that.

Oleg Morhat also announced that an architectural composition will soon appear near the enterprise, and a park will be laid out. Thus, the residents of Glubokoye want to pay tribute to those thanks to whom fresh, fragrant loaves appear on the store shelves every day.

Not so long ago, the traditional technology of baking rye bread, followed by Stepanida Lupach, a resident of the village of Derkovshchina, Gluboksky district, was included in the state list of intangible cultural heritage of Belarus. She uses a two-hundred-year-old recipe passed down from her mother and grandmother for its preparation.

The Gluboksky bakery, which has been providing the population of the district with fragrant bread and confectionery products for over 40 years, is also a follower of folk traditions of bread baking.
