Musicians from six countries will take part in the festival of ancient and modern chamber music in Polotsk
March 23, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. Musicians from Belarus, Russia, Germany, France, Estonia, and Venezuela will take part in the XXIV International Festival of Ancient and Modern Chamber Music in Polotsk, which will open on March 24. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Elena Martynova, the music editor of the concert hall of St. Sophia Cathedral.
The organizers of the traditional festival have prepared eight eventful concert evenings for chamber music fans. Traditionally, the festival will be opened by the performance of the symphony orchestra of the National State Television and Radio Company of Belarus. This ensemble is well known to the festival's admirers. The musicians constantly invite conductors from different countries to perform their programs, thanks to which the ensemble sounds new each time. For the XXIV festival, the renowned Estonian conductor Erki Pehk will come to Polotsk with the orchestra. The Belarusian-Estonian tandem will present a program that is difficult to perform, culminating in Symphony No. 1 "Spring" by Robert Schumann.
This year, the organizers managed to realize a long-standing idea of a humorous musical project, which is bound to take place on April 1. On April Fools' Day, the festival poster invites to a concert by the Minsk musical chapel "Sonorus" titled "Musicians Joke". Its program includes works written with a smile, including the polka "Train of Pleasures" by Johann Strauss Jr., the super hit "Hello, Dolly!" by Jerry Herman, the can-can from the operetta "Orpheus in the Underworld" by Jacques Offenbach, and others.
A Belarusian-Russian-German instrumental quartet will introduce listeners to the boundless possibilities of the double bass in the concert program "Primavera - from classical to jazz". The quartet includes international competition laureates Sergey Karachun (double bass) and Andrey Shinkevich (double bass), Marina Rameiko (piano), and Vladimir Kunitsa (viola). The organizers are confident that the performance of classical works and modern jazz compositions by this unusually composed quartet will add new, unexpected colors to the festival palette.
At the organ music concert, the renowned French performer and frequent guest of Polotsk, Alain Bove, will present the French perspective on classical musical works for organ.
The two hundredth anniversary of the birth of the great composer Franz Liszt will be celebrated by the famous Polotsk organist Ksenia Pogorelaya and the talented pianist Arseniy Sadykov in their festival performance. The program is designed to reveal new facets of the Hungarian master's work, including his early works and mature spiritual music.
Spiritual and secular choral music will form the program of the concert by the Mogilev Choral Chapel, which will perform at the festival under the direction of Venezuelan conductor Gerardo Estrada.
The organizers of the festival traditionally dedicate the final musical evening to the romance. One of the most popular genres at the festival will be presented on April 20 by the vocal group "Chisty Golos" (Belarus). -0-
