We remember. The field meeting of the presidium of the regional council of deputies is taking place in Rossony
The field meeting of the presidium of the regional council of deputies began in Rossony with a rally at the memorial complex on the burial site of soldiers and partisans who died during the Great Patriotic War, and a visit to the Museum of Combat Brotherhood. The issue of the implementation of the patriotic education program over the past four years was considered.
It is no coincidence that the heroic land of Rossony, which showed special courage in the fight against the occupiers, became the meeting place. About 2,000 Soviet soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters, including Pyotr Masherov's mother, Darya Petrovna, are buried in the mass grave of the memorial complex. The complex is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus.
Today, two new plaques appeared here, bearing 112 surnames, of which 59 were previously known and 53 were recently identified by the search party of the Youth Council of the Vitebskoblgaz enterprise and specialists from the Rossony District Executive Committee during archival research.
Descendants of their relatives from the Moscow region, Altai Krai, Chuvashia, and Bashkortostan came to honor the memory of their loved ones. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the heroes could not hold back tears. Now they can bow and lay flowers on the graves of their ancestors who died defending their common Motherland.
– More than 80 years separate us from the Victory Day of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. Very soon we will also celebrate May 9th. But no matter how much time passes, no matter how many generations change, for us those events are the most tragic in the country's history, but also the most heroic, which demonstrated to the whole world the courage, love of freedom, and resilience of the Belarusian and other peoples who were part of the Soviet Union. We know this, we remember this. And our main task is to pass this memory on to future generations. Thanks to the courage, heroism, and bravery of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, who stood as a single wall in defense of our Motherland, we live and build a peaceful future, – emphasized the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov in his speech at the rally.
