At the international pop song performers' competition "Vitebsk", which will be held during the XXII International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", Belarus will be represented by Alexander Solovyov, an artist of the National Academic Orchestra of Symphonic and Pop Music, a correspondent of BELTA reports.

Alexander Solovyov is originally from Molodechno. In his hometown, he graduated from a music college with a degree in academic vocals, and is currently a fifth-year student at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, majoring in pop vocals.

Alexander was recognized as the best during a repeat audition of participants in the qualifying round of the international pop song performers' competition "Vitebsk". The jury announced an additional review a week ago when they could not choose a single candidate during the second stage of the qualifying round, which involved 10 performers. Then the judging panel narrowed their choice down to two musicians: Alexander Solovyov and Alexander Kovalev, a vocal teacher at the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, who were invited for a repeat audition.

The jury included Anatoly Yarmolenko, artistic director of the Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus ensemble "Syabry", People's Artist of Belarus; Eduard Zaritsky, People's Artist of Belarus; Vasily Rainchik, artistic director of the Youth Pop Theater, People's Artist of Belarus; Oleg Eliseenkov, composer; Irina Dorofeeva, Honored Artist of Belarus. The chairman of the expert group is Vladimir Karachevsky, First Deputy Minister of Culture.

The XXII International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" is planned to be held from July 11 to July 17.
