New Year's lights lit up on Vitebsk's main Christmas tree
This year, the epidemiological situation has made some adjustments to the holding of the most anticipated winter holiday. Vitebsk has abandoned the traditional procession of Ded Moroz and Snegurochka. However, 80 pairs of these fairy-tale characters still became participants in the concert, greeting the audience near the stage on the city's central square.
Before the appearance of Vitebsk's main Ded Moroz, creative teams entertained the holiday guests. Also, the friendliest transformer Bumblebee visited the cheerful event and performed a lively dance.
A surprise awaited the young and adult spectators at the celebration. Ded Moroz arrived in an all-terrain jeep, which was provided to the New Year's wizard by the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. This was very timely, as the weather in Vitebsk left much to be desired. And it was the celestial office that made its adjustments at the most anticipated moment of the holiday - the lighting of the garlands on the tree. It turned out that the warm and rainy winter had spoiled Grandfather Frost's freezing staff. And even the powerful energy of young and adult Vitebsk residents did not help him light the lights. Then, fearless gnome-climbers came to the aid of Ded Moroz. They descended from the roof of a high-rise building, brought stardust, and found a magic bell. As soon as they rang it and scattered star glitter around, the freezing staff regained its strength. And then, after a general call: "One, two, three, little tree, light up!" the multicolored lights on the 35-meter beauty lit up.
The audience enjoyed a captivating program featuring Doctor Aybolit, who urged everyone to maintain distance and wear masks. The performance by the Ded Moroz Orchestra left no one indifferent. Another pleasant gift for the holiday guests was presented by young rescuers-firefighters. Dressed in stylized Ded Moroz costumes, they performed a safety dance on stage.
Even in such a challenging epidemiological situation, the holiday organizers found ways to surprise the residents and guests of the regional center. The participants of the concert program did their best to make everyone believe in a New Year's miracle and share a piece of warmth with each other. Children and adults sincerely rejoiced, sang along, and danced with the artists. And although the long-awaited holiday did not bring the traditional fluffy snow, it gave everyone a sense of magic.
