Regional "Dazhynki" in Horadok summarized the harvesting records of 2014
This year, the contribution of Vitebsk region to the common harvest turned out to be record-breaking. The number of loaves of bread last Saturday in Gorodok, where the regional "Dazhynki" were held, was probably also record-breaking. They were present in almost all catering establishments, on the trading shelves of district farmsteads, and even at the media forum: journalists from the region's mass media cordially treated their subscribers and each other to fresh pastries.
At the entrance to the district center, everyone was greeted by an architectural composition – a peasant woman with bread and salt. Here, girls in national costumes with a loaf of bread from the current harvest welcomed the chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Kosinets. After hearing the report of the head of the district, Vasily Murenkov, on the work done to prepare for the holiday, Alexander Nikolaevich visited a number of facilities. He visited the I.V. Doroshchenko Gorodok State Vocational and Technical College of Agricultural Production, where an exhibition of innovative developments of educational institutions of the region was organized: agricultural machinery, devices and units that significantly facilitate work in mechanical yards, as well as investment projects related to agroecotourism, and methodological manuals. The chairman of the regional executive committee noted that many of the presented samples should be adopted, and young authors should be encouraged for their intellectual work.
The next point of the route was the renovated city Palace of Culture, in the foyer of which an exposition of works by folk craftsmen was located. According to Alexander Kosinets, such products should be sold in specialized stores, including roadside service facilities. Unique souvenirs, carrying national flavor, will be an excellent gift as a souvenir of visiting Gorodok region.
The head of the region also saw the conditions in which athletes live in the new 75-bed hotel of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Olympic Reserve in Winter Sports.
– The swimming pool, shooting range, and a gym for winter sports with simulators for classic and skate skiing and downhill skiing must be commissioned by the New Year, – Alexander Kosinets set the deadlines. – And by spring, an inexpensive ice arena for 800 seats, costing $2-2.5 million, must be built.
But perhaps the most significant and long-awaited event, which was eagerly awaited not only in the Vitebsk region but throughout the republic, was the opening of the ski-roller track in the Vorobyovy Gory tract. Alexander Kosinets cut the red ribbon and took a promise from the young athletes present at the ceremony to make every effort on the path to the Olympic peaks.
– Higher, stronger, faster! The Vitebsk region expects results from you, expects victories! – he addressed the future champions.
Next, the head of the region and journalists took a tour of the ski-roller track, which is slightly more than 5 km long and 7 m wide. Despite the fact that this multifunctional sports facility was built in the shortest possible time, all international standards have been met here, fences have been erected against uninvited forest dwellers, and a protective wall (separating the serpentine from the shooting range). The track configuration allows for various distances to be set. In terms of equipment and significance, this is the second such facility in Belarus after Raubichi. Competitions of any level, including European and World Championships, can be held here. By the way, in November, international group specialists will come here to carry out the necessary procedures for licensing.
The governor's route concluded at the main stage of "Dazhynki", where the warmest and most sincere words of gratitude were expressed to the rural workers on that day. In his welcoming speech, Alexander Kosinets noted that the development of the region's agro-industrial complex has acquired a progressive and dynamic character, and stable growth rates of agricultural production volumes have been ensured.
– This year, 1 million 302 thousand tons of grain were harvested in all categories of farms, in actual barn weight. Vitebsk region has never received such a weight in its history, – emphasized Alexander Nikolaevich. – In the difficult conditions of the northern region, we were able to achieve high results. This speaks of the coordinated, organized work that the residents of the region are carrying out today.
The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee also elaborated on the large-scale transformations that have taken place in Gorodok. He expressed immense gratitude to everyone who participated in this – construction organizations, forestry enterprises, land reclamation workers, power engineers, industrial enterprises, youth, and sponsors. A total of 167 facilities were built, reconstructed, and repaired, with over 700 billion rubles spent for these purposes, of which 500 billion were budget funds.
– The most valuable thing we have is people, – Alexander Kosinets summarized. – They must be protected, respected, and valued. The state will continue to do everything necessary for the development of the countryside. Thank you, dear friends, for your hard work. Well-being and happiness! And the loaf that was presented to me today will be even larger in 2015. Happy holiday!
Then came the time for the heroes of this year's harvest, who basked not only in the spotlight but also in the sun's rays: the drizzle stopped, and the sky ceased to frown. Thus, nature itself expressed its respect for their selfless labor.
