The State Automobile Inspectorate of the region held the republican festival "Open Roads Day" on Victory Square in Vitebsk.

The event is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the State Automobile Inspectorate and took place in all regions and the capital of the country.

In Vitebsk, on a large-scale interactive road safety platform, it was packed with people – so many visitors gathered. Adults and children gladly participated in the "drunk goggles," "drunk steering wheel," "manual traffic control," and "safety seat" attractions. They rode go-karts and bicycles on special tracks, and tested their accuracy in the "interactive shooting range." They learned how to provide first aid, took selfies with a real service dog, and explored exhibitions of retro cars, special vehicles, and weaponry.

“It was pleasing that many children came. Among the most active guests of the holiday, we raffled off two certificates for free training at the city's driving schools,” said the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the regional executive committee, Police Colonel Yuri Lyubimov. “Such meetings help to remind people once again that traffic police officers, like other law enforcement officers, are open to communication and ready to help.”

Heads of the region and the city came to congratulate the traffic police officers on their anniversary. They became participants in a teleconference that connected all seven venues in the country, where the republican holiday “Open Roads Day” was held, in online mode.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov addressed the attendees. The chairman of the regional executive committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, performed on stage in Vitebsk and presented awards to distinguished individuals.

At the end of the holiday, traffic police officers performed a demonstration program, showcasing their high skills in driving cars and motorcycles.
