Br1 billion will be allocated to improve fire safety of major social facilities in the Vitebsk region in 2010.
February 11, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Br1 billion will be allocated from the Vitebsk region budget in 2010 to improve fire safety of facilities with mass and round-the-clock occupancy. This was announced today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, during a coordination meeting on the issue of preventing drunkenness, crimes and other offenses, according to a BELTA correspondent.
The funds will be used to carry out work on transmitting the signal from the automatic fire alarm system installed at the facility directly to the MES dispatch center. Upon receiving such a signal, the fire crew will immediately respond to the facility without waiting for an additional call.
According to Vasily Chekan, Head of the Vitebsk Regional MES Department, currently only a few facilities in the region are equipped in this way (social institutions, catering facilities, healthcare, education, dormitories, hotels, etc.). This work needs to be done at more than 1.1 thousand facilities, including 60 where alarms still need to be installed.
As reported by the MES, there are over 1.5 thousand facilities with mass or round-the-clock occupancy in the Vitebsk region. Last year, 4 fires occurred at these facilities. -0-
