Five people were rescued from a fire in a Vitebsk dormitory

На пожаре в витебском общежитии спасли пять человек
A report of a fire in a dormitory on Lazo Street, owned by Vizas OJSC, was received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations from the watchman yesterday at 23:00.

The fire broke out in one of the rooms on the third floor of the multi-story building. The fire caused heavy smoke in the stairwells. Arriving rescuers evacuated elderly women from the smoke-filled room. Before the arrival of the ambulance, firefighters carried out resuscitation measures. After examination by medics, the women were taken to the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital with a diagnosis of "poisoning by combustion products, burns of the upper respiratory tract".

A neighbor with two young children also had to be rescued due to the severe smoke. They were not injured in the fire and refused hospitalization.

Due to heavy smoke and the threat to the health of residents, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with the dormitory administration, evacuated another 33 people.

A 33-year-old grandson was also in the room where the fire occurred. He left the room on his own before the arrival of the Ministry of Emergency Situations units. However, the man later went to the regional hospital complaining of feeling unwell and, after examination, was hospitalized with a preliminary diagnosis of "poisoning by combustion products".

Presumably, the fire in the dormitory room was caused by a short circuit in the electrical outlet. As a result of the fire, property was damaged, and the walls were smoked.
