Water levels of the spring flood continue to rise on the rivers of Belarus

March 29, Minsk / Tatiana Lobas - BELTA /. Water levels on Belarusian rivers continue to rise due to spring floods with a daily intensity of up to 97 cm, Marina Nagibina, head of the hydrological forecasts department at the Republican Hydrometeorological Center, told a BELTA correspondent. This is observed on the Western Dvina, Dnieper, Berezina, some sections of the Neman, Sozh and Pripyat, and most of their tributaries. As a result of the ice breakup on the Western Dvina, ice jams have formed in some places with sharp (136-148 cm) daily fluctuations in water levels. Over the past three days, the Western Dvina below Vitebsk, its tributaries Ulla, Obol, Disna, the Dnieper near Mogilev, the Berezina near Berezino and Svetlogorsk, the Sozh in the Krichev-Slavgorod section, and the Pripyat near Petrikov and Narovlya have opened up. Ice drift and residual ice edge formations are observed here. On the Dnieper near Rechitsa, ice has been artificially destroyed and is melting in place. On the Western Dvina above Surazh, on the Dnieper above the village of Solovyovo, as well as near Zhlobin and Loev, on the Berezina near Bobruisk, and on the Disna and Besed rivers, ice cover with openings, ice edges, and ice movement in some places is maintained. On the Minsk Sea, Vileyka Reservoir, and Lake Naroch, ice cover is observed, but there is water on the ice, leads have appeared, and the ice is melting in place, making it extremely dangerous to go on the ice. On the Ulla River near the village of Bochaykovo, the water level has reached a dangerous mark. Currently, on the Pripyat in the section Lyubansky Bridge-Petrikov, on the Yaselda near the village of Senin, on the Sluche near the village of Lenin, and on the Svisloch near the village of Terebuty, water levels exceed dangerous high marks by 4-126 cm. Just a couple of days ago, the water level reached the most dangerous mark near the town of Stolbtsy. Now there has been a decrease here, and the water level has dropped below the dangerous high mark. Nevertheless, a number of facilities have been flooded. For example, in the Mogilev region, in the Khotimsky district, a bridge over the Bosyad River is flooded; in the Mstislavsky district, near the village of Zasožje, a bridge over the Sozh is flooded, and near the village of Krasny Bereg, a bridge over the Vikhra River is flooded. In the Chausy district, near the village of Zarechye, a section of the road before the bridge over the Pronya River is flooded, and in the Kostyukovichsky district, near the village of Kolodpivo, a section of the road to the bridge over the Besyad River is flooded. In the Mogilev district, near the Druť River (a tributary of the Dnieper), sections of the Semukachi-Gorodishche road and parts of the overflow bridge near the village of Gorodishche are flooded, with water levels above the road surface of 20-25 cm, and above the bridge surface of 5-10 cm. In the Minsk region, in the Pukhovichi district, buildings of garden communities have been affected by the flood of the Svisloch River. In the Vitebsk region, in the Beshenkovichi district, in the village of Bochaykovo, yards and outbuildings have been flooded by the Ulla River. In the Gomel region, in the Petrikovsky district, due to the overflow of the Pripyat River in Petrikov, as well as in the villages of Snyadin and Lyaskovichi, individual houses, yards, and outbuildings have been flooded. On most rivers in the republic, the water is in the floodplain. In the coming days, the Western Dvina near the urban-type settlement of Surazh and the Berezina near Bobruisk will open up. Water levels on most rivers will continue to rise, on the Western Dvina near Verkhnedvinsk, on the Berezina near Borisov, and on the Ptich near the village of Luchitsy, water levels will reach dangerous high marks, and on the Pripyat near Mozyr and Ubort, and the village of Krasnoberezhye, they will approach them, Marina Nagibina noted. -0-
