The millionth passenger was congratulated at Orsha station

It is noteworthy that the event coincided with the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Orsha station and the opening of traffic on the Smolensk – Orsha – Borisov – Minsk – Baranovichi – Brest section.
– Exactly 150 years ago, on November 16, regular traffic was opened on the Moscow – Brest section. And today we have recorded the millionth passenger for the current year, – said Kirill Masharsky, head of the railway station in Orsha. – I want to note that, despite the global pandemic, we have resumed communication with the Russian Federation. This allowed us to increase passenger traffic through the station by 100,000 over 10 months of this year. Of these, 70,000 are international traffic. If we compare with 2019 (pre-pandemic time), we managed to restore passenger traffic by 98%. By the end of the year, we plan to reach 100%.

By the way, by agreement with the Russian Federation, from 2022 all international trains that ran before the closure will be resumed.
The holder of the millionth ticket was congratulated by the management of the Minsk branch of Belarusian Railways and the Orsha station. She was presented with a certificate and valuable gifts right on the Minsk – Orsha – Minsk train.
– It's so unexpected and pleasant, – shared Larisa Moiseeva her emotions. – I constantly use the services of our railway. I travel to Minsk to see my children and grandchildren at least twice a month. Now it is possible to travel quickly and comfortably on business class trains.

From 3 to 4.5 thousand tickets are sold daily at the Orsha station. The most popular are the business-class regional line trains Minsk – Orsha – Minsk, business-class interregional line trains Mogilev – Polotsk, and international line trains Moscow – Minsk – Moscow. With the opening of daytime high-speed international passenger service on the Minsk – Moscow route in April of this year, passenger traffic increased by 61,334 passengers in 10 months of 2021.
