By 2015, the construction of 8 biogas complexes is planned in the Vitebsk region
An alternative to natural gas is biogas. A cheaper fuel resource can be obtained using industrial and household waste. By 2015, it is planned to build 8 biogas complexes in the Vitebsk region. Three of them will operate on landfill biogas, and four on agricultural production waste.
Investment contracts for the construction of these facilities at municipal solid waste landfills in Vitebsk, Orsha, and Novopolotsk have been concluded with a Swedish company. Last year, the first such complex was commissioned in Orsha. As practice shows, the construction of similar installations near livestock farms not only saves fuel resources but also produces high-quality organic fertilizer and improves the environmental situation. An investor is being sought for the implementation of projects in rural areas of our region.
