Territorial election commissions are being formed in the Vitebsk region
This week will see the completion of the nomination of representatives to territorial election commissions, which are to be formed no later than July 22 at joint meetings of representative and executive authorities.
A total of 26 territorial commissions are to be formed in the Vitebsk region, including the regional commission and the city commission in Novopolotsk. The right to delegate their representatives to these commissions is held by work collectives, political parties and public associations, as well as citizens by submitting an application. Documents for the nomination of potential commission members are accepted until July 19 inclusive at the bodies forming such commissions, on weekdays and weekends from 8:00 to 17:00 with an hour-long lunch break. Relevant information is posted on the websites of the executive committees.
During these same days, the initial list of potential candidates for the head of state will be determined _ July 17 is the deadline for submitting applications to the Central Election Commission for the registration of an initiative group to nominate a candidate for President of the Republic of Belarus. The collection of voter signatures in support of nominations will start on July 23 and will last until August 21 inclusive.
As reminds the Chairperson of the CEC, Lidiya Yermoshina, one voter can sign for the nomination of any number of candidates, but a signature can only be cast for one person once. If a voter signs for one candidate twice or more, such signatures will be deemed invalid. Signatures will be collected at pickets, at the workplace and at home, and voters will need to remember to check the documents of the signature collectors.
