Registration of initiative groups of future parliamentary candidates has begun in the Vitebsk region

Election commissions in the Vitebsk region have begun registering initiative groups of future candidates for local deputies. For now, there are only a few, but from December 10, this process will clearly accelerate – on Sunday, the nomination of contenders for mandates of representative authorities will start.

In the Vitebsk region, women have not only taken on the main workload in the election commissions but have also found themselves at the forefront of the struggle for the Councils. The first contender for a mandate appeared in the regional center – the city election commission registered an initiative group for the nomination of Tatyana Trushchanina as a candidate for deputy, who intends to run for the city council in the Chapayevsky constituency No. 9.

Speaking at a seminar in Vitebsk, the head of the Central Election Commission, Lidiya Ermoshina, reminded that documents for the registration of initiative groups can be submitted immediately after the formation of the relevant election commissions (but no later than December 14), however, they must collect signatures only from December 10 to January 8 inclusive.

Nomination in local elections can be done in three traditional ways – by collecting signatures, from political parties, and from labor collectives. In this case, the potential candidate must reside or carry out activities in the territory of the Council where they are nominated, or work in an organization that serves the residents of this constituency.

Registration of candidates for deputies will take place from January 9 to January 18, after which the election campaign will begin, which will last until February 17 inclusive.

IMPORTANT: In the elections on February 18 in the Vitebsk region, 3112 deputies are to be elected, including 2253 for rural and town councils, 133 for city councils, 666 for district councils, as well as 60 deputies for the regional council.
