The design of consumer cooperative stores will be updated in the Vitebsk region

Vitebsk Regional Consumer Union to Update Brand Elements of All Network Stores in Agro-towns and District Centers of the Region.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Board of the Regional Consumer Union, Alexander Putyato, at a meeting of the Regional Executive Committee on increasing the efficiency of consumer cooperation organizations. At the same time, he drew attention to the following:

— This work must be carried out in conditions of fierce competition with other operators. For a long time, the monopoly of district cooperators in serving the population did not stimulate work in this direction. Today, everything has changed, and, as you know, water does not flow under a stationary stone. There is no point in investing money in renovating rural stores in villages with a population of up to 50 people. The rebranding will cover the network's retail outlets in district centers, which account for 30 percent (more than 300 stores), and in agro-towns (227 stores). We have already started this work, and it has yielded economic results. In some regions, turnover has increased by up to 30 percent.

Many aspects of the work of consumer cooperators in the Vitebsk region were criticized. To bring the work of this structure to a new level, the need for its reform has become apparent. Weaknesses include an inefficient pricing policy and an overloaded administrative apparatus. It accounts for 13 percent. For comparison, the cooperators' main competitor, OOO "Evroopt," has only 2 percent, and the latter's turnover in the region is almost twice as high.

Among the negative factors is also the low profitability of most processing enterprises, for example, bread factories.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Andreichenko, who took part in the meeting, drew attention to the inefficient work of agricultural product procurement agents, which represents real money:

— This year, Vitebsk region has received the largest potato harvest in the country, as well as so many apples and other vegetables! However, the storage facilities are only half full. We need to work more actively with villagers and encourage people to sell their surplus agricultural products themselves.
