Planned territorial defense exercises were held in the Vitebsk region
The theoretical part summarized the results of the past year and set tasks for the current one. As noted by the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Oleg Matskevich, 2017 can rightfully be considered a successful year. The territorial defense forces of the Vitebsk region successfully participated in the joint Belarusian-Russian strategic exercise "West-2017", for which they received high praise from the General Staff. In particular, the Glubokoe district distinguished itself, where a battalion formed from 179 reservists capably coped with the assigned tasks.
The year 2018 will be no less intense. The territorial defense structures of the Vitebsk region will participate in command and staff exercises of the Armed Forces of Belarus. A demonstration exercise on territorial defense management during destabilization of the situation will be held at the Vitebsk district base. The practice of planned and unscheduled inspections will continue.
The military commissar of the Vitebsk region, Ruslan Shkodin, delivered a report on the results of the work and directions for improving territorial defense. Awards were also presented to those who distinguished themselves last year.
Shooting competitions with Makarov pistols for the prizes of the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Belarus, were held at the Losvido training ground. 23 teams participated, each consisting of the head of the executive committee, the military commissar, and an official responsible for territorial defense issues. The first place was taken by the team of the Glubokoe District Executive Committee, which scored 64 points out of a possible 90. The team included the First Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Iosif Pachkovsky, Military Commissar Sergey Krasnodubsky, and Chief Specialist of the Administration Department Alexander Utkin.
The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee team (First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Oleg Matskevich, Military Commissar of the Vitebsk Region Ruslan Shkodin, Head of the Executive Committee's Affairs Alexander Sysoev) is two points behind. The Lepel District Executive Committee took third place (Chairman of the District Executive Committee Boris Efremov, Acting Military Commissar Alexey Evstafiev, Chief Specialist of the Affairs Department Sergey Tukhto).
