Vitebskdrev Begins Commissioning Works

The construction of the new plant, which according to the once-developed business plan should have been in full swing producing high-quality MDF and HDF wood-fiber boards, is finally nearing completion after delays for various reasons.

Today, at JSC "Vitebskdrev", interdepartmental and regional commissions, headed by the Chairman of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Yakobson and the Chairman of the Vitebsk Region State Control Committee Vasily Maximov, respectively, are working. Joint efforts will verify the readiness of the facility, the quality of work performed, the order on the production site, and other aspects that have been placed under special control by the head of state's order.

As reported to "R" by the head of the regional commission, Vasily Maximov, the facility's readiness was 94 percent as of November 1. Currently, the new production facility is undergoing start-up and adjustment operations.

According to the head of the regional control authority, the construction progress is under constant scrutiny and strict control of both the commission he heads and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. In recent weeks, thanks to the mobilization of resources and efforts, much has been done to expedite the commissioning of the new building and to generally improve order at the enterprise.

Yes, there are certain constraining factors with the financing of the work, and there are issues with "Belgosstroyexpertiza". However, Vasily Mikhailovich noted that, taking into account the instructions given by the President during his visit to "Borisovdrev" and the program developed by Vitebsk JSC, trial batches of the new product, in demand in the furniture industry and for the production of laminate flooring, will be released in the coming days. Currently, the start-up of the new production at "Vitebskdrev" is being phased in, which will require a considerable amount of time. The main thing is that the heart of the plant, a powerful energy unit, has been launched into operation, and it is gradually taking over the energy supply for all divisions of the enterprise.

During today's joint inspection of OJSC "Vitebskdrev", the reasons for the delays in commissioning will be analyzed in detail, the degree of guilt of specific officials, including design organizations and contractors, will be determined, and proposals for bringing them to justice will be made.
