Large-scale emergency response drills were held at the Vitebsk HPP
According to the scenario, during the operation of a hydrogenerator, a short circuit occurred with subsequent ignition, which caused heavy smoke in the workshop. When attempting to extinguish the fire independently, two workers who were on the lower level of the substation received injuries of varying severity. In addition, the protective automation failed, and a short circuit occurred on a transformer, which caught fire from ejected oil.
Further along the scenario, another emergency situation occurred. While the diesel generator was being started manually, which took 15 minutes, the river level rose, and a boat capsized. Two fishermen who needed help ended up in the water.
The drills, as explained by the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Sergey Meshkeshin, are aimed at coordinating the interaction of organizations and institutions of the region in the elimination of emergency situations and informing citizens.
