Approximately Br12.5 billion has been allocated for the construction of a sports complex at the Luzhesnyanskaya Gymnasium.

July 7, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. More than Br12.5 billion has been allocated for the construction of a sports complex at the Luzhesnyan boarding school-gymnasium for gifted and talented children. The complex will become the largest sports facility in the Vitebsk region. Vladimir Shitko, the director of the educational institution, told a BELTA correspondent about this. The construction is provided for by the state program "Children of Belarus". The total area of the complex is about 6 thousand sq.m, it includes an indoor sports hall (1 thousand sq.m) for 300 spectators, a swimming pool (5 lanes of 25 m), 2 fitness and tennis halls, a billiard room, as well as 10 locker rooms for athletes and other auxiliary premises. "The sports complex meets the requirements for game fields and allows holding competitions of the highest level, including international ones, on its basis," believes Vladimir Shitko. At the same time, the complex will primarily be used as a training base for students in team sports (volleyball, basketball, handball) and swimming. In addition, the modernization of an open-air sports town has been completed at the gymnasium, where grounds for volleyball, basketball, and hockey have been organized. An artificial turf, provided by the Belarusian Football Federation, has been laid on the football field. This allows playing this sport almost all year round. In the future, the Luzhesnyan Gymnasium plans to develop its sports program and train future athletes. Last academic year, two sports classes for football and basketball were already formed at the gymnasium, and this year 5 more sports classes have been enrolled, including for volleyball, handball, and swimming. "We are actively working with sports federations to staff the coaching team, select children who have shown themselves in sports, and provide them with the opportunity to realize their potential," emphasized Vladimir Shitko. The sports complex, the artificial football field, and other facilities will make Luzhesno a kind of sports suburb of Vitebsk, he added. -0-
