Rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations saved a fisherman from an ice floe on the Western Dvina River in Vitebsk, the ministry's press service reported.

On the Western Dvina River in Vitebsk, rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations saved a fisherman from an ice floe, BELTA was informed by the ministry's press service.

In the morning of February 23, a man went out on the ice to fish. Soon, an ice floe with an area of 100 sq. m, on which the man was located, broke off and began to drift. It became impossible to get ashore. The man called rescuers, and they arrived at the scene of the call a few minutes later.

Using a rescue board, a dry diving suit, a lifebuoy, and life jackets, the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees rescued the distressed fisherman from the ice floe and delivered him to the shore. The man was not injured.

Rescuers remind that with a stable positive temperature, which has been observed in recent days, the ice melts intensively, so going out on it is dangerous.
