CIS observers note the absence of violations during the election campaign in the Vitebsk region
November 26, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. No violations of electoral legislation have been identified at the current stage of the election campaign in the Vitebsk region, stated Anatoly Nebogotov, long-term observer from the CIS, Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation, General Political and Social Problems of the CIS Executive Committee, in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent.
The long-term observer has already familiarized himself with the work of territorial and precinct election commissions in Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Orsha, as well as in Vitebsk, Gorodok, Senno, Orsha, Dubrovno, Polotsk, Miory, Sharkovshchina, Glubokoe, and Shumilino districts. According to him, polling stations were visited without any prior coordination, and no obstacles were placed in their work. "All commissions work openly, and the appearance of an observer is a routine situation for them," noted Anatoly Nebogotov.
In his opinion, precinct commissions are staffed by competent personnel. Precinct commissions have all the documents provided for by law, and territorial commissions provide them with active support.
The observer monitored the media and was convinced that there is sufficient information about the elections in both print and electronic media, including on the official websites of local authorities.
In Novopolotsk, Anatoly Nebogotov met with proxies of four presidential candidates. According to him, none of them reported any violations of the Election Code. All proxies noted constructive work with the territorial commissions.
The interlocutor also noted with satisfaction that disputes of decisions of territorial commissions are resolved in a civilized manner - through court proceedings. "The prosecutor's office and courts do not refuse to accept applications and lawsuits. Courts make decisions based on current legislation," he emphasized.
Monitoring of the election process will continue. In the next stage, long-term observers will focus on pre-election meetings and assemblies of candidates for the head of state with voters and the preparation of venues for short-term observers, and work with territorial and precinct commissions will continue.
Long-term observers from the OSCE/ODIHR have also begun their work in the Vitebsk region.
In the Vitebsk region, there are 28 territorial commissions for the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus, including one regional, 21 district, three city commissions operating in cities of regional subordination, and three district commissions in Vitebsk. 911 precinct commissions have been established. -0-
