The workshop head of one of Vitebsk enterprises received a salary for a fictitious employee for more than three years, the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Vitebsk informed a BELTA correspondent. Using his official position, the workshop head of an enterprise that is part of UP "Vitebskvodokanal" hired his acquaintance in June 2006. However, all duties were performed by another worker, who did not even suspect that he was working for two. The salary for the phantom employee was regularly received by the manager on his card until December 2009. Thus, he "earned" Br17 million. A criminal case has been initiated against the workshop head for embezzlement through abuse of official powers, committed on a large scale, under Part 3 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, which provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions. -0-
