Heads of traffic police departments of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee left their offices and took to the main road

October 28, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Heads of traffic police departments of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate have left their offices and hit the road to serve on the busiest streets of the regional center and international highways. The temporary acting head of the traffic police department, Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Kosov, and the commander of the traffic police patrol service battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Bonadyisenko, will use this unusual form of interaction with citizens on October 28 and 29, the agitation and propaganda department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate told a BELTA correspondent. The commander of the traffic police patrol service battalion was on duty today at Freedom Square, where the main roads of Vitebsk intersect. Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Bonadyisenko did not limit himself to a formal check of documents and a preventive conversation with drivers. He asked each of them about what remarks and suggestions car enthusiasts have regarding the traffic police's work, and what, in their opinion, needs to be improved in the traffic system. According to car owners, the most pressing problem in the city is the lack of parking spaces and frequent traffic jams. However, they did not express any complaints to the traffic police officers; on the contrary, drivers noted the correct and polite treatment of citizens. One of them even added that, unlike their colleagues from neighboring countries, Belarusian traffic police officers do not abuse maximum penalties. During his duty, an emergency also occurred. Traffic lights suddenly went out at Freedom Square, and Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Bonadyisenko immediately began manually regulating traffic at the intersection. On Friday, October 29, the temporary acting head of the traffic police department, Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Kosov, will have a similarly challenging duty on one of the international highways. As noted by the agitation and propaganda department, the traffic police leadership regularly holds receptions for citizens on personal matters and direct telephone lines. Patrolling is another effective form of working with the public to promote traffic rules, prevent traffic violations, and address citizens' complaints. According to the traffic police department, since the beginning of the year, 143 road traffic accidents have occurred in the region, resulting in 6 deaths and 148 injuries. -0-
