The largest number of jobs in the Vitebsk region are planned to be created in industry
In the Vitebsk region in 2019, the largest number of jobs will be created in industry. The forecast of the labor market situation in the region, prepared by Swedish, Lithuanian and Belarusian experts, was presented today in Vitebsk to journalists by Tatiana Ovchinnikova, head of the employment department of the committee for labor, employment and social protection of the Vitebsk regional executive committee.
"The main number of jobs will be created in manufacturing industries (60%), agriculture and forestry (8%), as well as trade. Employers have noted that the measures they are taking to retain employees and attract new ones will be aimed at improving the quality of jobs and working conditions. The improvement of economic performance in 2018 allows employers to forecast an increase in employee salaries," noted Tatiana Ovchinnikova.
Due to the rapid development of technologies and the changing nature of labor organization, employers prefer versatile, technically educated and flexible employees who will be ready to improve their competencies and skills. The analysis showed that the main labor market trends will be the stabilization of the unemployment rate, a decrease in tension, a balance between supply and demand, as well as an increase in the quality of labor resources. The majority of employers expect an improvement in prospects for entrepreneurial activity. Almost 80% of employers noted that the volume of production of goods and services of the company will increase, 18% of those surveyed do not predict changes, and 2% of enterprises foresee a decrease.
Experts have compiled a list of professions and specialties that are most and least in demand by employers. Nurses, paramedics, doctors, engineers, zootechnicians, teachers, foresters, foremen, and accompanists will be in demand. As for blue-collar workers, a large number of vacancies are available for concrete workers, drivers, masons, roofers, turners, operators, cooks, salespersons, tractor drivers, assemblers, seamstresses, milling machine operators, plasterers, and electric and gas welders.
It will be most difficult to find work for social
workers and lift operators. There are enough of these specialists on the labor market. In addition, it is expected that half of all eliminated jobs will be observed in the sphere of information and communication. The majority of new jobs will be created by the private sector. The forecast was carried out according to the methodology developed by experts of the Swedish Public Employment Service and the Lithuanian Labor Exchange. It is based on the analysis of the current situation and a survey of economic entities, and contains an assessment of labor market trends. 121 employers from various sectors of the economy were surveyed, with the survey primarily involving representatives of large businesses, both state-owned (61%) and private (39%). The majority of employers represented the manufacturing industry and agriculture. The number of employees in the organizations that participated in the survey was 47 thousand people. The project "Improving the activities of the public employment service of the population of Belarus" is being implemented in accordance with the memorandum of understanding, which was signed in 2015 by the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the Swedish Public Employment Service. It is aimed at developing a model for forecasting and analyzing the labor market, further strengthening cooperation with employers, and increasing public awareness.
