Vitebsk region tax authorities uncovered two sham businesses in Q1

April 21, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Tax authorities of the Vitebsk region identified two sham enterprises operating in Polotsk in the first quarter of this year. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the press center of the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties for the Vitebsk region. Based on the results of inspections of these business entities, which were engaged in concealing objects of taxation, Br3.5 billion was additionally charged to the budget, including Br2.8 billion in taxes and duties. The inspection materials have been handed over to law enforcement agencies for legal assessment of the identified violations. In addition, tax officials identified 13 business entities that used the services of sham enterprises for illegal minimization of taxes paid. Such counterparty organizations will have to pay an additional Br3 billion in taxes and duties to the budget, as well as about Br0.8 billion in economic sanctions. Criminal cases have been initiated by law enforcement agencies against the heads of two business entities. In total, in the first quarter, the region's tax authorities conducted over 1.4 thousand inspections of enterprises and organizations, with violations found in 88% of them. Following the control measures, more than Br4 billion was additionally charged to the budget. In addition, during inspections of exporting organizations, unjustified VAT refunds from the budget totaling Br2.5 billion were prevented. -0-
