Vitebsk region tax authorities recovered debts of two enterprises from their directors

In 2010, tax inspectorates of the Vitebsk region recovered through court the debt of two enterprises to the budget from their directors, accused of tax evasion, for a total amount of Br113 million, the press center of the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties for the Vitebsk region informed a BELTA correspondent. During inspections of the financial and economic activities of these enterprises, facts of large-scale tax evasion were revealed. Subsequently, to compensate for the damage caused to the state, and due to the lack of funds from the debtor enterprises for these purposes, tax authorities filed civil lawsuits against officials whose actions led to the emergence of debts. By court decisions, the tax arrears were recovered from the heads of enterprises in full. For example, one of Vitebsk's trading enterprises did not pay taxes during 2009-2010, while its director informed the tax authorities about the absence of trading activities. As a result of the deliberate actions of the head, the tax base was concealed, and damage was caused to the state in the form of non-payment of taxes and duties in the amount of Br77 million. In total, in 2010, more than 2,000 lawsuits involving tax authorities were considered in the courts of the Vitebsk region, which is almost 34% less than in 2009, while the amount of claims increased by 14% to Br15.2 billion. -0-
