A real goat in a cart will lead the New Year's procession of Father Frosts and Snow Maidens in Vitebsk
A real goat in a cart will lead the traditional festive procession of Father Frosts and Snow Maidens in Vitebsk at the "Let's Light" the Christmas Tree Together!" event, which will take place on December 17 this year, a correspondent of BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.
It is planned that at the head of the festive column, immediately after three horses embodying the winter months, a cart with carolers and a live goat – the symbol of the upcoming 2015 – will travel. A total of 500 pairs of Father Frosts and Snow Maidens, as well as 850 fairy-tale characters and mascot costumes, will walk along the central street of Vitebsk to the main New Year tree of the region on Victory Square. Even the musicians of the military brass band will be dressed in the costumes of the main New Year character.
Traditionally, the command to light the lights on the main Christmas tree will be given by talented children of Vitebsk – winners and prize-winners of sports competitions, cultural contests, and subject Olympiads. Creative groups of the city have already prepared a festive concert and a contest and entertainment program. In addition, festive scenes and New Year's video greetings will be broadcast on LED screens near the stage. It is expected that more than one and a half thousand spectators will watch the solemn lighting of the regional Christmas tree. Souvenir sales and buffet services will be organized on the square.
Similar events will be held in all district centers of the region.
