Natalia Kochanova elected Chairperson of the Naftan Supervisory Board

Head of the Presidential Administration Natalya Kochanova has been elected Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of Naftan OJSC. A meeting of the board was held today. During it, Natalya Kochanova's candidacy was unanimously supported. Naftan General Director Alexander Demidov congratulated the Head of the Presidential Administration on her election to the position.

"Thank you for the trust placed in me. This is new and responsible work for me, because the enterprise is very important not only for the economy of Novopolotsk, but also for the Vitebsk region and the whole of Belarus. The tasks facing the enterprise are very serious, so it will be necessary to provide it with all-round support. In particular, by November 7, it is necessary to complete some of the modernization projects at Naftan. But this does not end the solution of the joint-stock company's tasks. A huge amount of work still needs to be done on the modernization and reconstruction of the Polimir plant, and on developing a strategy for the entire Naftan petrochemical complex," said the Head of the Presidential Administration.

Addressing the situation with the supply of low-quality Russian oil and, as a consequence, the reduction in its processing volumes by Naftan, Natalya Kochanova noted that the government and the Belneftekhim concern are involved in solving this problem. "I hope this issue will be resolved in the near future, because due to the reduction in Naftan's capacity utilization by more than half, the enterprise and the country's economy are suffering losses," added the Head of the Presidential Administration.

Natalya Kochanova will also meet with the labor collective of the Polimir plant today. The Supervisory Board of Naftan OJSC has been operating since 2002. It consists of 10 people. Naftan OJSC is a large petrochemical complex that produces various types of fuels, oils, bitumens, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petrochemical products. More than 10,000 people work at the enterprise, and its products are supplied to markets in more than 50 countries.
