Natalia Kochanova elected Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation
The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic was elected by secret ballot using ballots during the first meeting of the first session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation. Members of the Council of the Republic unanimously supported the candidacy of Natalia Kochanova with their vote.
When nominating Natalia Kochanova for the position of Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, member of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Rusy characterized her as a person of action. "Having headed the Council of the Republic, she raised the significance of the upper house of parliament to a new high level in terms of decision-making efficiency, and in the participation of members of the Council of the Republic in interaction with local authorities on solving pressing issues. In a short time, she also managed to raise the women's movement in Belarus and work with youth to a new level. I am confident that Natalia Ivanovna will ensure the fulfillment of the requirements that will be set before us by the President and the people," noted Mikhail Rusy.

We must work in the same way, multiplying the achievements left to us by colleagues from previous convocations," emphasized the speaker.
