Natalia Kochanova at a meeting in Lepel: there should be no formalism in dispensary examination issues

Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova is taking part in a meeting of the Lepel District Executive Committee.

The agenda includes issues of implementing the state program "People's Health and Demographic Security of the Republic of Belarus" for 2021-2025, as well as the work of inspection commissions. As reported at the meeting, the demographic situation in the Lepel district is characterized by a decrease in population and its aging. The proportion of people aged 65 and older is 18%.

To address issues of ensuring demographic security in the district, all structural divisions of the district executive committee, district and rural councils of deputies, and healthcare institutions closely cooperate. The region's population receives timely medical assistance, it was noted at the meeting.

The Chairman of the Council of the Republic heard the report and recalled the task set earlier by the head of state to provide timely assistance to patients in any region. She inquired whether there were any problems in the Lepel district with transferring patients to medical institutions of the regional and republican level when the situation required it. Natalya Kochanova was informed that in working with complex cases, close interaction of all links of the system is organized, and telemedicine consultations are held if necessary. There were no obstacles to transferring patients. The Chairman of the Council of the Republic drew attention to disease prevention measures and informing the public about them. "It is difficult to lose people," she said. "Prevention and timely examination of patients should be paramount."

Natalya Kochanova also noted that the Ministry of Health is actively trying to conduct medical examinations of the population, which will help to detect diseases in a timely manner and start treatment at early stages. She added that there should be no formalism in this matter and recalled that a specially created working group in the country will check the situation in the healthcare system.

"We also need to work on demographics, - the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic noted. - Not only doctors, but everyone together: heads of regions, organizations should be involved in informational work with the population and improve the situation in the Lepel district. These are our people, and their health needs to be taken care of. Then they will be beneficial and work conscientiously in their workplaces."

The meeting also considered issues of staffing of medical institutions in the region and their retention in workplaces. To this end, work is organized in the Lepel district to support specialists, including providing housing for those in need.

"The Head of State has set tasks for the accessibility of medical care. And it is necessary to do everything possible so that every person in our country, in any region, can receive qualified assistance. If not, then in any medical institution in our country, and we have quite a lot of them: there are 17 republican scientific and practical centers alone, equipped with excellent technological equipment, where highly qualified specialists work," said Natalya Kochanova. - One of the issues that always concerns everyone is the staffing of medical personnel, and in the Lepel district, the retention rate of doctors is 100%. Those who come here are provided with rental housing. The Chairman of the Executive Committee reported that 24 places were provided in two years: 16 rental apartments and 8 places in dormitories. This yields results, as doctors stay here, in the region, to live and work in Lepel. The accessibility of medical care and the equipping of medical institutions with high-tech equipment are no less important. After all, Lepel is a strong point in the healthcare system of the Vitebsk region, it has high-tech equipment - both a computed tomography scanner and an angiograph. Narrow specialists work here, providing assistance not only to residents of the Lepel district but also to residents of other regions of the Vitebsk region. As for demographics, this is a serious issue for the Lepel district, but there is already a trend towards an increase in the number of babies."
