Natalia Kochanova: it is necessary to meet with young people and hear their problems
According to Natalya Kochanova, she always finds it very interesting to meet with young people. During the assembly on September 1, 2018, she made an agreement with the students of Polotsk Gymnasium that she would visit them and answer their questions.
"The 'STEP: School of an Active Citizen' project is interesting and significant. It is necessary to meet with young people, to hear their questions and problems. Young people today are developed beyond their years, and such informal, trusting communication, regardless of the guest's rank, will be beneficial. The main thing is that the topics discussed are interesting to schoolchildren, help them feel the rhythm of the country's life and, possibly, choose their professional path correctly," noted the Head of the Presidential Administration.
Answering a question from schoolchildren on how to form a civic stance in a young person, Natalya Kochanova emphasized the need to be proactive and do everything within one's power to improve the situation around, not to be indifferent to the problems of others. "One must have an inner core, principles, and always defend one's life position. In addition, it is important to learn every day, to know the history and culture of one's country, to be proud of it and of one's small homeland," said the Head of the Presidential Administration.
Schoolchildren focused on environmental issues, as the Polotsk region is an industrial area. "The situation with emissions and the state of the environment is regularly monitored by specialists; there are no critical problems in the country. Environmental protection and ecology issues are under serious control, and a number of measures will be taken to improve its condition," replied Natalya Kochanova.
Young people were also interested in the impressions from the republican ball at the Palace of Independence, and discussed the work of the BRSM, the healthcare and education systems. The "STEP: School of Active Citizen" project provides for the organization of a unified information day in schools among high school students, inviting public figures, representatives of government bodies, deputies, and media personalities, which involves the formation of civic activity, personal qualities, and the necessary knowledge and skills among students.
