Natalia Kochanova: Vitebsk region has serious development potential
According to Natalya Kochanova, 2020 will be an important year for the country. It marks the end of a five-year plan, an electoral campaign will be held, and the 75th anniversary of Victory will be celebrated. "Everyone will have to work on the set tasks. They are challenging for the country and the regions, but all are solvable. The President has clearly outlined these issues in all directions. First and foremost is the economy, which is the foundation from which we will have to proceed in all aspects of regional life and in resolving socio-economic issues," noted Natalya Kochanova.
The Speaker of the upper house of parliament focused on the main economic factors of the region: prices, employment, and wages. "We see that the Vitebsk region is lagging in meeting the wage growth target. It should reach Br1,000 overall and in the northern region. This task must be set, and you can solve it because the region has serious potential," said the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic to the region's leadership, and deputies and directors at various levels.
Employment issues must be addressed on an individual basis, and clear tasks must be set for the heads of enterprises, organizations, and institutions. People must have jobs with good pay, added Natalya Kochanova. "The Vitebsk region must solve the issue of developing the Orsha district and implement the program for accelerated development of cities with a population of over 80,000 people. There are three such settlements in the region: Orsha, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk. Responsible work will be required here because these are pilot projects that should subsequently be implemented in all cities, regardless of population size," noted the Speaker of the upper house of parliament.
Another serious issue is the development of the agro-industrial complex in the northern region. The regional executive committee and the government are working on the tasks set by the head of state at the meeting in Vitebsk. "Everyone must understand the measure of their responsibility - both local authorities and enterprise managers. Then all this can be resolved. The President pays close attention to the development of the Vitebsk region, because there are more than enough issues here," emphasized Natalya Kochanova.
